My Sanglas is fully functional and in impeccable condition (see the photos that I took today). I have ridden 4000 km on it since the restoration that took place during the winter 2011-2012. All painted metal parts were sandblasted and professionally repainted, fibreglass/plastic parts were repainted, chromed parts were rechromed. Wheels, stands and rider’s foot pegs were powder coated. Many parts were replaced with new ones, as you know.
My Sanglas is fully original, including the Telesco rear shocks. But with two exceptions: the kick start pedal has been straightened and painted black (an original curved, chromed pedal will follow the bike as well), and the mph speedometer has been replaced with a km/h speedo (that shows the speed quite accurately, indicated 122 is 120 km/h real speed). In the pictures the bike has handlebar end weights; they can be easily removed if needed.
It is a 35 horsepower version built in late 1979 for the British market (5-spoke wheels). The frame number 22016; the bike is probably one of the earliest 5-speed versions. The gearbox, by the way, works quite smoothly and the pedal does not need much force. With the bike come two silencers (matt black with the restrictions removed and chromed 400 cc version with no 27 PS restrictions; both bought new).
